Parent Brochure

This document is the P.S. 246 Parent Brochure on PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports). It explains the school’s approach to promoting positive behavior and creating a supportive learning environment. The brochure outlines what PBIS is, the purpose of the framework, and how it helps students develop respectful, responsible, and safe behaviors. It introduces the schoolwide expectations known as the Three Bees: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe, with detailed examples of what each looks like in practice.

The document also describes the recognition system used to celebrate students who demonstrate positive behaviors, including tickets, monthly celebrations, Star Student recognition, and special activities. Additionally, it provides a list of ways parents can support PBIS at home—such as reviewing expectations, encouraging positive communication, creating structured homework routines, and staying engaged with teachers and school activities. The brochure includes contact information for P.S. 246 and lists members of the PBIS team.
