Principal’s Message

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. It is our mission to help every child feel welcomed, connected, and part of our P.S. 246 family. We strive to challenge each student to grow in his or her academic ability and our teachers spend innumerable hours planning and creating classroom activities that encourage your students to be critical thinkers and life-long learners.

We remain committed to strengthening the collaboration between our school and the families of every student entrusted in our care. In keeping with this commitment we are excited to announce that we are now a designated “community school” in collaboration with Good Shepard After- school Program. Community Schools are neighborhood centers that provide students with high-quality academic instruction, where families can access social services, and communities can meet to share resources and address their common challenges. Community Schools recognize that students who are hungry, have vision issues that impact their ability to see the blackboard, or are missing school regularly face critical obstacles to learning in the classroom. By providing an extra meal, connecting parents to job training, or enrolling a student in an after-school program, we believe we can lower barriers to learning and help kids succeed.

I am honored to serve as the principal of P.S. 246 as it is a privilege to be part of a community where our parents, teachers, and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that supports academic and social growth. We welcome and encourage your participation as we set and attain our goals in a safe, positive and rewarding environment.
